Poetry

Here are some poems that I've been working on recently. I've decided to share them and other creative persuits. Hope you like them and give me feedback.

A Fathers Fellow Feeling

A call to catch up
And see what has been
Passing through the last
Few weeks and days
Displaying efforts end
While showing strains of
Confidence in questions
The list of learning left
In simple suggestions
Of patience in persistence

Again it is a call
To report and recognize
This process of performance
Isn't to the swift in heart
But the strong in soul
Severing ties to senses
Found in fearful corners
Of the mind clinging to causes of confusion
Trying to captivate continuation by detouring in doubt

This is a call of confidence
A fellow feeling finds
Not a foreigner on the
Other side but sentiments
That struggles scars are
Something touched by all
As this teacher a telling
Sign asking for endearment
Only in a twin voice of
Outer and inner encouragement

Perception's Pleasure

Light and sound sat upon the stage
Their players too were striking
Strumming singing without censure
Things of yesterday they yearned
For to return from recesses
Of time, to taste again and tell
The happen stance of circumstance
A fullness felt from fleeting

Light and sound passed by
Witnesses waiting to breathe on
Embers of experience unaware
Touching not the fire before them
Only admiration of the accumulation
From perception placed before
Their part they presumed as
Passing like wind before a color ore

Light and sound called out the chorus
Casting consideration inward now
Burning bright warmth not withheld
Those praising on those glazed upon
Sensations sweet return
Is an alliance to the anthem
Of emotions etchings on experience
Being echoed to encourage and remember

Self

You do not know who you are
Blending in beneath the best
Looking upon yourself from afar
And considering all the rest
You give away your cares
Living in a state of hesitation
Considering everyone else’s stares
And living in their estimation
Indeed you are so very far
From who you truly are

To Quit: A Search for Sympathy

Why did you give up
Which reason will you tell
Craft it with a collection plate
Sympathy, that's what you sell it on
Sympathy, that's what you're searching for
Sympathy, such a service I will not share

Marketing and deals is all we do
Purchases of conscious
Coining the phrases counterfeit
Selecting the terms of trade
You cannot convince me your conscience is clean
I too have fought what you fought and seen what you've seen

My issue is not your defeat
I do not care that difficulties kept diligent
Nor that you dealt with doubt
My problem with your performance came at its end
The end that you decided came all too soon, it was your inability to endure
Your greatest failing was found as desire disappeared

You did not continue as you commenced
This carries with it the curse that now follows you
Those spirits that could only whisper lies now call out every move
Can't you see this error's end?
This is the greatest sadness
Knowing that one's will is broken and talking with half truths as token

Your heart isn’t cheap but you gave it for such
The price you didn’t pay was to believe
Begging, not to have another chance
But begging to have others believe your lie to be true
Just as those Doubts once did to you
You've defected to them but what do they care

I’m asking you to return
To suffer this small moment
And suffer things through- the effects that touch me and you
And look outward farther to those of a time unknown
When placed in our own position I know they won’t hold you in derision
They'll see your story and adopt it as their own

Become the victor not the victim

love storm

He waits for lightning to strike twice
She passed him once at this very place
This thought alone cannot suffice
And so his mind runs back to trace
The way his heart lived on her steps
How her eyes put him at ease
Lacking rhythnm his mind now preps
to repeat and make certain nothing varies

Here she comes but not alone
There is a man there by her side
Her kindness still to him was shown
But now he knew their love had died
She passed him by with only clouds
No lightning only darkness and rain
His hopes lay wrapped like shrouds
He realized now such love was vain

  1. Hey Pete! You have got quite the talent my friend! I am really impressed! I really liked 'Self'. I think you nailed it when you said we are so far from what we can be! But at the same time we're on our way! I hope everything is going well! It's been a while since I've heard from ya! You take care my friend! Much love! -Jordan Mousley
